A word from our founder Desmond Marshall MD, Rouge Ventures
2017 marks the 3rd year of Pitch Perfect. Over these years, we've seen a tremendous psychological shift in startups, entrepreneurs, and investors; some to our liking, many not.
The core premise of Pitch Perfect has been, and will only be one: To search for potentially good companies to invest in.
Pitch Perfect is not organised for the sake of creating a marketing show. We care less about how many people attend or how entertaining the companies are. Unfortunately, a lot of "pitching events" in the market is done for the sake of creating empty promises, or throwing someone else's money to dubious businesses. We have no say in what other people do, but this is not healthy to this community. We are already seeing that bad companies get funded without due diligence check. Company founders only have funding as their first and only resort instead of actually doing business. The community has been totally twisted.
Unlike many other "pitching events", that only tries to protect their little space, Pitch Perfect collaborates with various organisations with similar beliefs and integrity, in providing suitable platforms for us to review good projects. Many projects do go straight contact with me, but we believe having good partners is just as crucial, which will not diminish our Pitch Perfect brand, but rather let real businesses appreciate even more what it entails.
This year, Pitch Perfect will be making more collaborations with great partners. We will be focusing more on quality and value enhancements of businesses, to rectify what this community has done wrong, even though no one dares to speak up.
